Security Guard Training in Alabama

In order to become an unarmed security officer or armed security officer in the State of Alabama, the state Licensing Board requires all prospective security guards to complete 8 hours of board approved classroom security guard training. These hours should be completed prior to requesting a license.

Candidates will have to complete a written exam on subjects learned during the 8 hour training course.

Furthermore, most security agencies and employers will often require supplemental training in addition to the standard 8 hour course.

Security Guard Training

Basic security guard training requirements:

  • Must be 18 years of age or older
  • No felonies or violent criminal convictions
  • No prohibiting mental illness
  • Sufficient physical shape for the position applied
  • A G.E.D.,  high school diploma, or comparable certificate

To be able to bear arms on duty as an armed security guard, one is required to obtain additional training certifications.
