Security guard training in the state of Tennessee can signal the start of an exciting career. In order to become an unarmed security guard in Tennessee, both a security license and registration are required.

Security Guard TrainingOther requirements for becoming an unarmed security guard include:

  • Being of 18 years of age or older
  • Showing proof of being a United Stated citizen
  • Having good moral standards and character
  • Having no drug or alcohol use or dependence
  • Having no conviction of felonies within the last 5 years which including probation
  • Not being disabled to the point of not being able to perform basic duties
  • Submitting two fingerprint cards for background checks from both TBI and FBI
  • Successfully completing the specified security training guard requirements.

Additional conditions that could be of assistance include having a valid driver’s license, being in good physical shape, having the ability to stand for extended periods of time and possessing thorough communication skills.

The Security Guard Training Program Course Subjects

Course subjects include:

  • Orientation
  • Legal aspects and limitations
  • Emergency procedures
  • Duty requirements

Note that these security guard training courses are one-hour each and should equal in total to four hours.

Furthermore, if one plans to harbor a nightstick, mace, or knife during duty, he or she must gain training from a qualified instructor and obtain a card of completion to be possessed at all times upon completion of training.

Fees, which are nonrefundable, include the application fee of $50.00 and license fee of $20.
