Security Guard Training in Texas

Security guard training can signal the start of an exciting career. The Texas Department of Public Safety’s Private Security Bureau (PSB) regulates the private security industry in Texas. In addition, the Licensing section of the PSB handles all applications for registration.

Texas Security Guard Training Requirements

In order to apply for registration, it is mandatory that you must already be an employee of or be in the process of becoming an employee of a licensed private security Company or security agency.

Security Guard TrainingApplicants have two options to submit their application to the PSB when employed at the same time applying:

  • Manually mailing the application and all additional documentations to Texas Department of Public Safety Private Security Bureau at 5806 Guadalupe, Building I Austin, Texas 78752, or
  • Checking out the PSB website to apply online. This enables you to fill out the application, pay the necessary fess, and schedule an electronic fingerprint appointment (this is mandatory for background checks).

Should you decide to do the process online, then a checklist is provided for the additional documents needed. It will take about 4-6 weeks to acquire your individual registration when you are finish submitting the forms correctly. You must renew your registration every 2 years and this can be done online.
